Easter is a time to get together with family and surprise kids with treats from the Easter Bunny. It’s also the second biggest holiday for kids to receive candy! This year, try a little spin on the traditional basket with this Money Balloon Easter Basket. Kids still get their fair share of candy, but also something very special—money-filled balloons!
Materials:
- Clear latex balloons
- Helium (purchased or rented tank, or fill at local grocery or party store)
- Colored paper (or store-bought confetti)
- Hole punch
- $1 dollar bills
- Pencil
- Curling ribbon
- Ribbon
- Metal buckets (or baskets)
- Sticker letters
- Paper shreds
- Plastic Easter eggs
- Candy
Step 1: If making your own confetti, punch holes with hole punch and colored paper.
Step 2: Fill balloons with confetti.
Step 3: Using a pencil, roll $1 dollar bills one at a time.
Step 4: Insert three rolled $1 dollar bills into a balloon, using the end of a pencil to push through.
Step 5: Next, fill balloons with helium and tie with curling ribbon. Helium tanks can be purchased or rented online. You can also take pre-filled balloons to a grocery store and have an associate fill them up for you.
Step 6: Use sticker letters to affix child’s name on Easter basket.
Step 7: Fill baskets with paper shreds and candy-filled plastic Easter eggs.
Step 8: Easter baskets make a perfect balloon weight! Tie balloons onto basket handle and a bow around knot for a nice finishing touch.
