Pull together a last-minute Halloween costume that will impress without stress, brought to you by Evite in partnership with 3 MUSKETEERS®. Choose a creative getup below — and skip fighting the costume store crowds!
Grab two buddies to form a super sweet trio. Purchase three yards of blue felt fabric (available at craft stores) and two boxes (containing 36 candy bars each) of 3 MUSKETEERS®. Divide the fabric into 1 yard for each person and cut a head-sized hole in the center of each yard. (Tip: Measure the circumference of your head with a string and then trace the string on the felt.) Cut the 3 MUSKETEERS® boxes into a candy crest and wrap silver duct tape around parts of the cut-out to add extra shine (save the candy for trick-or-treaters). Adhere the crest to the fabric with hot glue and complete the costume with black hats (we got these from a party supply store), white button-down shirts, black jeans, fake mustaches and toy swords. You’ll be well on your way to becoming king of Halloween!
This group costume is quite a treat! Gather a group of friends — the more the merrier — and have everyone choose their favorite candy color. Purchase white gloves, solid-colored tutus and suspenders and striped knee-high socks (available at party stores). Either buy or reuse solid-colored T-shirts to match the color of your M&Ms and white shorts to wear under your tutus. Cut out this free printable letter “m,” trace on white felt (available at craft stores) and adhere to your T-shirt with hot glue.
Salt & Pepper
This costume goes together like salt and pepper — literally. Simply buy a solid white T-shirt, a solid black T-shirt and corresponding colored shoes to match. Cut out this free printable, trace one letter on black felt and the other on white felt, then cut out and hot glue the black “S” on a white T-shirt and the white “P” on a black T-shirt. Then shake it at your Halloween soiree!
Día de los Muertos Sugar Skull
This drop-dead easy costume will haunt everyone’s Halloween night. Tear an old T-shirt and button-down and splatter dark red acrylic paint all over the fabric. (Tip: Lay down newspaper outside to catch any excess paint). Then zombie-walk on over to this makeup video tutorial to paint on your frightening face.
Your friends will fawn all over this costume. Most of this look is in the make-up: create contours across your face by blending yellow, orange, brown and white creme makeup (available at costume stores), then add white freckles, a black nose and upper lip, and black eyeliner and false eyelashes. Shape brown pipe cleaners around a basic black headband for ears, don a neutral-colored dress, then prance away! Check out the full makeup tutorial.
Gift to the World
Think you’re all that? Wrap yourself up as a “gift to the world” by constructing this costume from a cardboard box. Start by removing the bottom flaps of your cardboard box. Then, cut three holes — one circular head hole and two arm holes. Measure the circumference of your head with a piece of string and trace the shape onto the opposite side of the box using a similar circular object, like a large bowl. Cut over your tracings with a box cutter. Pull the box over your body and feel for where your arm holes should go (about 3 to 4 inches down from the top). Grab a buddy to help you measure and mark this part! Then get to the decorating. Cover the entire box with wrapping paper, then decorate the front-facing side. Pick out a giant bow and ribbon (available at party stores) and cut out our free printable tag, then secure them all with tape and get ready to present yourself.
Nothing can touch this prickly costume! Write “Can’t Touch This” using acrylic paint and stencils or iron-on letters on the torso area of a solid green dress. Fold several dozen tan pipe cleaners in half, and hot glue the tips of the creases onto the costume. For a finishing touch, tuck a fake flower behind your ear.
What’s hot this Halloween? Hot sauce, of course! All you need for this sizzling getup is a solid red dress, green construction paper and our free printable hot sauce sign. For the hot sauce cap, staple two sheets of green construction paper together to create one long horizontal sheet. Wrap it around your head and close the cylinder by stapling where it fits best. Download and cut out our free printable hot sauce sign, glue it onto green construction paper and tape or hot-glue it onto the dress.
Looking for a costume that’s warm and woolly? No prob-llama! For a llama ensemble, throw on a textured white sweater, black leggings, black shoes and black gloves — all available at party stores. We made a pom-pom bell necklace by threading a needle through the middle of each pom-pom, then through the top of a bell (available at craft stores). Wrap your thread around the top of the bell several times for good measure. Finally, hot-glue our free printable ears onto a basic headband and hot-glue our printable teeth and sign on wooden dowels (available at craft stores).
