This four-ingredient recipe for barbecue chicken is a chill-and-grill classic.
Ingredients
- 8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (6-8 ounces each)
- Kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper
- Dry Italian seasoning
- Barbecue sauce of your choice (check out our sweet and smoky BBQ sauce recipe)
Directions
- 1
Preheat the grill on high. Pull the chicken from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature, about 20-30 minutes. Room temperature chicken will cook quickly and evenly.
- 2
Generously season the chicken on both sides with salt, pepper and Italian seasoning.
- 3
Place chicken onto hot grill and close the lid. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side for a total cooking time of 8-10 minutes. During the last few minutes of grilling, brush chicken with barbecue sauce. Cooking time will depend on the thickness of your chicken.
- 4
Remove cooked chicken from the grill, cover with foil and allow to rest for approximately 10-12 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with additional barbecue sauce on the side.
