A Southern classic, the bourbon slush is a house party staple for the Derby and spring season. I mean, who doesn’t love a slushy? Especially when it’s a cocktail!

Yield: Serves 12


  • 12 ounces frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
  • 24 ounces frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
  • 6 cups water
  • 3 cups strong black tea
  • 3 cups bourbon whiskey
  • 4 8-ounce cans lemon-lime flavored soda

    In a large bowl mix together the orange juice and lemonade concentrates, water, tea, and bourbon. Pour into plastic containers and freeze overnight.

    Remove frozen mixture from freezer and let stand for 10 minutes. To make consistency slushy, chop with a potato masher. Scoop slush into glasses, top off with lemon-lime soda, garnish with a cherry and serve.
