Ingredients:

Sweet Challah Bread Pudding:

  • 1 Loaf of Challah Bread Cubed
  • 4 Whole Eggs
  • 2 Cups Whole Milk
  • 4 Tbsp. Melted Butter
  • 2 Cups Cream
  • 2/3 Cups Sugar
  • 2 Tsp. Vanilla
  • Pinch of Kosher salt
  • 1/2 Tsp. Cinnamon
  • Powdered Sugar (add to taste)

Savory Challah Bread Pudding:

  • 1 Loaf of Challah Bread Cubed
  • 4 Whole Eggs
  • 2 Cups Whole Milk
  • 4 Tbsp. Melted Butter
  • 2 Cups Cream
  • 12 Oz. Thawed Spinach
  • 1 Med. Onion (Diced)
  • 8 Oz. Gruyère Cheese (Shredded)
  • 2 Tsp. Kosher Salt
  • 1 Tsp. Black Pepper
  • Nutmeg
  • Parmesan Cheese

Directions:

    Create the challah bread pudding base for both recipes by mixing one loaf of cubed challah bread in a bowl with eggs, yolk, milk, cream and butter.

    For the sweet version of the challah bread pudding, add sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and kosher salt to the base and mix.

    Layer the bread in a baking pan, pressing down on the bread to compact the ingredients.

    Let sit for one four before baking at 350 degrees for 60 minutes. For the first thirty minutes, leave the bread pudding covered with foil. For the last thirty minutes, remove the cover to brown.

    Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.

    For the savory version of the challah bread pudding, add thawed spinach, diced onions, Gruyère cheese, dijon mustard, salt, pepper and nutmeg to your challah bread base.
