    Place one cooled cake upside down on a plate, outlined in parchment paper.

    Spread 1/2 cup frosting on top of the first cake using the back of an offset spatula or spoon. Spread to outside edges using left to right figure 8 motion. Avoid pressing down on the cake.

    Place the other cake on top of the first cake. Spread 1/2 cup of frosting in a thin layer across the top and sides of the cake.

    Spread half of the remaining frosting onto the top of the cake using the figure 8 motion to create circles with peaks and swirls.

    Coat the sides with the remaining frosting, repeating the same figure 8 motion and turning the plate as you go.

    Decorate with sprinkles and remove parchment before serving.
