Time to kick your can of frosting to the curb. Made with pure cocoa powder, this no-fail chocolate frosting does the store-bought stuff one better.
- 3/4 stick (6 tablespoons) melted butter
- 1 1/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar
- 2/3 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Melt the butter and pour into a large bowl.
Beat in the cocoa at low speed until combined.
Alternately add in the half of the powdered sugar and half of the milk on low to medium speed, beating well before adding next addition.
Once all of the ingredients are combined, add in a pinch of salt and vanilla.
Continue mixing on medium speed for about 3 minutes or until the frosting is creamy and smooth.
