  • French bread
  • Olive oil
  • Dried herbs
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Fleur de sel (French sea salt)

    Slice a loaf of crusty French bread.

    Combine a tasty oil — olive oil works well, but if you want to get extra-fancy, try avocado, macadamia nut, or pistachio oil — with your favorite dried herbs.

    Add red pepper flakes for zing, and let it steep overnight to bring out the the flavor.

    Set out a bowl of fleur de sel (French sea salt), for guests to sprinkle on the oil-dipped bread.
