- White frosting colored with orange gel food coloring*
- Orange cupcake wrappers
- Orange sanding sugar or sprinkles
- Green M&M’s or Sixlet candies
*Using food coloring can be a messy job. If you are coloring your own frosting, make sure to purchase gel colors, not liquid, as gels are easier to work with and create more intense colors without changing the recipe’s consistency. Some grocery stores or bakeries sell pint-size containers of frosting that has already been colored.
Decorate each cupcake with orange frosting using an offset spatula or with a large star tip and piping bag, starting from the center top of each cupcake and working out to the sides, to create a swirl effect.
Attach the cupcake wrapper.
Over a plate, sprinkle cupcake generously with sanding sugar or sprinkles. Top with green candy in the center of the swirl to create a “stem.”
