Take your office party from drab to fab with these five tips for spicing up your celebration.
1. Office Party Decorations: Get Crafty
Create a focal point for the party with a simple backdrop courtesy of colored or plain kraft paper. You can even get creative with office supplies — make a banner out of sticky notes and markers or a garland out of paper clips. Supplement with budget-friendly streamers and balloons and you’re ready to party.
2. Office Party Food: Go Southwest
Spice up your standard lunch order — literally — with Tex-Mex. Set up a salsa bar along with a fajita bar or taco bar and let co-workers create their own perfect plates.
Pro tip: Create an HR-friendly “bar that’s not a bar” by amping up soft drinks with add-ins such as Italian syrups, fresh fruit and even ice cream. And don’t forget dessert!
3. Office Party Activities: Make it Meaningful
If your party is honoring a co-worker for a work or life event, create a custom scrapbook with personalized pages from each department or employee. Place pieces of colored paper inside sheet protectors (make sure they’re 3-hole punched) and bind all the pages together with ribbon to create a collection of well wishes that will have far more meaning than the traditional greeting card with 30 signatures squeezed inside. You can even include pages with ready-made memes or photos that everyone can sign prior to the party or during the festivities. Or have co-workers write messages directly on a paper backdrop for all to see.
4. Office Party Playlist: Rock of Ages
Modern offices often span five generations, so figuring out what to play can be challenging. Make the music part of the party by asking each employee to contribute a song to the playlist … or make a playlist of iconic tunes from the past 50 years and hold a contest where party-goers have to guess performing artists, song titles or lyrics. You’ll not only learn a bit about music, but you might also learn a bit more about each other.
5. Office Party Invitations: Picture This
Make your party more personal with one of Evite’s upload-your-own-photo or upload-your-own-design invitations. You can even add borders or other special effects with the click of a button.
