You’ve cheered for your team all season long. What better way to end a great year of football than with a Home Bowl celebration with other football fans? Bring your game face and your appetite and plan a celebration like this Rustic Home Bowl Party, brought to you by Evite in partnership with Coca-Cola® and NABISCO.
Rustic Home Bowl Party: Invitation
Rustic Home Bowl Party: Food and Drinks
Next up: planning your menu. This is one of my favorite parts of hosting an event! Dips are a classic game-day appetizer. I created a no-bake crab dip that is super easy to make and pairs perfectly with yummy RITZ Crackers. We also topped our RITZ Crackers with mini potatoes with the works for a heartier pregame appetizer. I always add sandwiches as well as wings to the menu to ensure that no guest leaves hungry!
No table is complete without dessert. Our soda shop cupcakes made with Coca-Cola®-infused batter were topped with mini OREO Cookies. Another bite-sized sweet treat: Miniature NILLA Wafer “hamburger” bites made with colored coconut and frostings — my idea of a fun, easy-to-create and tasty dessert! To wash down your Home Bowl treats, serve refreshing Coca-Cola® along with tasty Coca-Cola® floats.
Rustic Home Bowl Party: Decorations
A Home Bowl party is a great way to welcome old and new friends into your home. The decor should match the theme but also be inviting for your guests. Add football elements throughout your home as well. Coordinate the color palette to represent your favorite team. You could also go half-and-half and decorate in colors to represent both teams in the big game. I chose a classic football feel for the table, featuring timeless vintage elements including classic Coca-Cola® crates housing 8-ounce Coca-Cola® glass bottles. There are lots of really neat vintage finds if you shop your local antique stores. Shopping in antique stores ensures that your party decorations will be one of a kind! For a rustic feel, I went with a natural wood backdrop along with a burlap tablecloth. Along the front of the table I made a ribbon banner, which is very easy to make!
Rustic Home Bowl Party: Guest DIY
- Cookie jar
- 1/2 yard of brown felt
- 1 sheet of 8.5″ x11″ white felt
- 1 sheet of 8.5″ x11″ green felt
- White paint pen
- Four small Velcro circles
- Hot glue gun
Step 1: Measure your cookie jar, then trim the brown felt for a fitted result. Cut the felt to exact size on the long side but leave an extra inch allowance on the narrow side.
Step 2: Wrap the brown felt around the outside of the jar and adhere one edge of the felt to the other using Velcro. (Tip: Don’t adhere the fabric directly to the jar itself so you can easily wash your jar after use.)
Step 3: Once the brown felt is secured on the jar to represent the football itself, add white strips to mimic the threads on the ball. You can adhere the white felt directly onto the existing felt with a hot glue gun. Please use caution when using a hot glue gun.
Step 4: Trim the green felt to fit the lid, then cut 2-inch slits in the shape of an “X” in the middle of the felt circle. You can slide the “X” in the felt over the handle of the lid to represent the grass field.
Step 5: Use your white paint pen to add yard lines to the lid.
I hope these tips have been helpful for your football-themed events. I encourage you to create your own for this year’s big game. Good luck and may the best team win!
