The vintage hot air balloon party I planned for Shyla’s 1st birthday was modern, whimsical and dreamy.
Guests were greeted by a customized hot air balloon photo prop and gift table draped in the same linen as our primary sweets display.
Light pink, ivory, gold and hints of mint blue-green were weaved throughout the entire party’s decor and design. The hand painted backdrop by Created by Jackie was the focal point of the dessert table. Next, we added “cloud-like” linens sourced from local House of Hough. From there, we layered simple designs, like cakes with vintage props and whimsical cake balls. To mimic the pennants hanging from the hot air balloons, we layered a mini-gold pennant banner and vintage pink “Happy Birthday” banner in front of the dessert table.
I designed the guests’ tables to be rustic, layering crisp white linens with burlap runners for added dimension. Centerpieces alternated between pink hot air balloon florals, painted mason jars and global travel items like miniature globes and map-printed books and crates.
For guests, we had an obstacle course bounce house to the left of the venue, a face painter/balloon artist plus the park grounds just outside the doors. Party guests departed with quaint bags of pink-and-white popcorn bags with tags that read, “Thanks for Flying By!”
