Just because you have children doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate New Year’s. Host a family-friendly New Year’s Eve party this year and invite other parents and kids, brought to you by Evite in partnership with Chiquita Bites.

Sleepy kiddos? Some families celebrate Happy Noon Year, throwing confetti and exchanging kisses at the stroke of 12 (noon, that is). And some West Coast folks live it up with East Coast New Year’s, watching the ball drop in NYC then heading for bed. Others host a family sleepover and put the kids to bed while the adults stay up till the crack of … well, if not dawn exactly, then midnight at least.

Looking for easy, yummy, festive eats both kids and parents will enjoy? Everyone loves the fun of fondue. And with enough healthy dippables (such as apple slices and baby carrots from Chiquita Bites), it works as a snack or light meal. Get our two-ingredient (yes, just two!) chocolate fondue recipe. And check out our cheese fondue recipe made with mild cheese to please kid palates. (Note: For safety, save the fondue for kids four or above.)

For extra fun, serve mocktails to young guests: Kids love Shirley Temples, cran-apple cider and bubbly mocktails. You can always spike the drinks with vodka for the adults — just make sure you serve them in different glasses so they don’t get confused!

For decor, we used double-sided tape to affix gold-foil letters (available at craft stores — look for thin cardboard so it sticks on the balloon more easily) to a 36-inch latex balloon (available at party stores). The finishing touch? A pink and gold tassel garland (available online — or make your own with our DIY instructions).

Give junior guests fun favors for the party, including confetti poppers (available online), noisemakers and our DIY paper crowns.

Kids love taking turns whacking a piñata — make one like this with our DIY instructions — with a festooned piñata bat (available at party stores).
